OUR STORY

About Me

I have worked in the building industry for over 35 years, with more than 25 years’ experience within the surveying sector. My background is firmly rooted in hands-on construction, property restoration, and insurance-related reinstatement works — giving me a practical, real-world understanding of how many different buildings perform, fail, and are properly repaired.

I also specialise in identifying moisture-related issues, including damp, condensation, and flooding damage. Importantly, I do not just diagnose defects — I provide clear, practical guidance on effective and proportionate solutions, including drying.

My experience also includes assessing for restoring, and repairing buildings affected by:

  • Moisture ingress
  • Condensation and mould
  • Flood damage
  • Insurance reinstatement works
  • Inappropriate or failed previous repairs which includes dam-proofing fails.

Alongside specialist moisture investigations, I also carry out comprehensive Building Surveys for those purchasing their new home — ensuring you fully understand the condition, risks, and repair implications before you commit, there are several choices and a Building and Moisture survey which is unique to myself.

Qualifications & Professional Memberships

To ensure the highest professional standards, I have undertaken extensive training and hold recognised qualifications and memberships.

I am a regulated firm by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and a Assoc RICS member, I hold a Level 6 Diploma in Residential Surveying.

I am also:

  • A member of Residential Property Surveyors Association (MRPSA)
  • An Associate of the British Damage Management Association (BDMA)
  • A Supporter of SPAB The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings

In addition, I have recently achieved a Distinction Certificate in Conveyancing, which enhances my understanding of the legal aspects surrounding property transactions — providing added value when carrying out Building Surveys.

I have also completed carbon literacy training in conjunction with English Heritage, strengthening my approach to traditional and historic buildings, particularly when advising on sympathetic and sustainable repair methods.

Specialist Expertise

A unique aspect of my background is that I am also a Drying and Moisture Migration Specialist. While this does not always arise in standard Building Surveys, it is invaluable when assessing:

  • Severe damp properties
  • Flood-damaged properties
  • Drying strategies
  • Reinstatement timelines
  • Insurance-related works

This enables me to provide realistic guidance on drying periods and reinstatement timescales where required.

Areas Covered

I am based in West Sussex, working locally across the region.

However, I have regularly travelled throughout the UK for many years to assist clients and companies dealing with complex property issues — damp, flooding, or the need for an independent and impartial Building Survey.

My approach combines traditional building knowledge, modern diagnostic techniques, and professional regulation — ensuring clear, honest, and technically sound advice for every property I inspect.
